This limited-edition, 120.7-proof (60.35% ABV) whiskey is the tenth release in Angel’s Envy’s Cask Strength program, and it is packaged in a commemorative and collectible carved hardwood box (pictured above). 2021 release is complex on the nose, with notes of peach and cherry accompanied by hints of brandy, tea, and honey. Notes of leather, toasted oak, and vanilla carry into the palate, along with flavors of stone fruit and port that give way to creamy Crème brûlée and honey with nutty marzipan. The finish features slight tannins and notes of black tea, apricot, and smoke.

Basil Hayden 10 Year Old Bourbon features big oak aromas along with hints of char and vanilla. Basil Hayden trademark spice shines through as the perfect complement to the caramel sweetness and wood flavors, making the whiskey a memorable one for fans and newcomers alike.

Tasting Notes: The nose is pralines and orange peel. There are hints of bright cherry and tobacco. Brown sugar and nuttiness start to shine on the palate. Old Forester 1897 Bottled in Bond is crafted to honor a watershed moment in bourbon history – the U.S. Bottled in Bond Act of 1897. This expression follows the Bottled in Bond standards that whisky must be aged in a federally bonded warehouse for at least four years, the product of one distillation season, one distiller, and from one distillery and bottled at 100 Proof. The concept behind these regulations – the idea of ‘sealed in quality’ – was something Old Forester introduced in 1870, as America’s First Bottled Bourbon.

Toasted malt and oak on the nose with subtle butterscotch. The flavors build on the tongue with vanilla bean, sweet tobacco, and a subtle hint of spicy rye. After a few drops of water, the bourbon sweetens up with hints of caramel and dark chocolate. The finish is full bodied and smooth all the way down. To achieve this distinctive character, our Double Oaked Signature Bourbon is aged to a proper straight bourbon, then transferred to a new charred oak barrel and aged again until the flavors are layered with complexity.

100 proof/ 50%abv/ 6yr/ Purcellville, VA Commemorate Catoctin Creek's 15th anniversary, the brand announces its oldest release: a 6-year-old Rabble Rouser Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey. It was produced in the fall 2017 season from 100% rye and was pot-distilled. Smells of toasted rye bread with caraway seeds spread with fruit jam. Similar flavors play on the palate, with sprinkles of clove, cinnamon, and root/birch beer spices with a deep, complex toastiness. Though there is a faint hint of green pepper and mint, the flavor profile is decidedly on the rich and roasty side of the rye spectrum and less on the "green" herbal/vegetal one.

But the brand is also celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hakushu Distillery which was founded in 1973. To celebrate 100 years of whisky making the brand has released two new limited edition whiskies in spring 2023. Though the peat smoke is certainly detectable on the nose and palate, it adds a forest campfire-like backdrop to aromas and flavors of sweet vanilla marshmallow, dark chocolate, roasted almond, orange blossom, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cherry blossom. The overall effect of this medium weight whisky reminds of cinnamon graham crackers, marshmallow fluff, and bittersweet cocoa—yes, freshly campfire charred s'mores! A hint of pine, cherry wood, seaweed brine, and pipe tobacco add additional layers of pleasant piquan

The idea was to see the difference between the grain first (Classic Malt) approach (favored by the Scots, the Japanese, and the Irish etc) and the barrel forward style (Straight Malt) we know and love from regular bourbons.
