Distilled in 2018, the second edition of Heaven Hill Grain to Glass went into the barrel at 107 proof and aged for six years in rickhouses W5 and W6 on the third, fourth, and fifth floors. It was bottled without chill filtration at barrel proof, 105 proof.

This limited-edition, 120.7-proof (60.35% ABV) whiskey is the tenth release in Angel’s Envy’s Cask Strength program, and it is packaged in a commemorative and collectible carved hardwood box (pictured above). 2021 release is complex on the nose, with notes of peach and cherry accompanied by hints of brandy, tea, and honey. Notes of leather, toasted oak, and vanilla carry into the palate, along with flavors of stone fruit and port that give way to creamy Crème brûlée and honey with nutty marzipan. The concept behind these regulations – the idea of ‘sealed in quality’ – was something Old Forester introduced in 1870, as America’s First Bottled Bourbon.

100 proof/ 50%abv/ 6yr/ Purcellville, VA Commemorate Catoctin Creek's 15th anniversary, the brand announces its oldest release: a 6-year-old Rabble Rouser Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey. It was produced in the fall 2017 season from 100% rye and was pot-distilled. Smells of toasted rye bread with caraway seeds spread with fruit jam. Similar flavors play on the palate, with sprinkles of clove, cinnamon, and root/birch beer spices with a deep, complex toastiness. Though there is a faint hint of green pepper and mint, the flavor profile is decidedly on the rich and roasty side of the rye spectrum and less on the "green" herbal/vegetal one.

Glendronach 12yr Highland 96proof This single malt Scotch whisky is made by Glendronach Distillery, a Scottish distillery known for its sherry cask-aged whiskies. The 12-year-old expression is made with a combination of Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks, which impart rich and fruity flavors to the whisky. Bottled at 43% ABV, this whisky has a nose of dried fruit, vanilla, and oak. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with notes of raisins, toffee, and cinnamon. The finish is long and warming, with hints of chocolate and spice.

96 proof/ 48%abv In 2023, the House of Suntory is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of Yamazaki Distillery, the first and oldest malt whisky distillery in Japan. But the brand is also celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hakushu Distillery which was founded in 1973. To celebrate 100 years of whisky making the brand has released two new limited edition whiskies in spring 2023. Though the peat smoke is certainly detectable on the nose and palate, it adds a forest campfire-like backdrop to aromas and flavors of sweet vanilla marshmallow, dark chocolate, roasted almond, orange blossom, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cherry blossom. The overall effect of this medium weight whisky reminds of cinnamon graham crackers, marshmallow fluff, and bittersweet cocoa—yes, freshly campfire charred s'mores! A hint of pine, cherry wood, seaweed brine, and pipe tobacco add additional layers of pleasant piquan

The Akkeshi Taisho makes up part of the up and coming distillery’s Solar Terms series that celebrates the different terms that make up the Japanese solar calendar. This bottle honors The Peak of Summer and the whisky inside is filled with a range of floral and fruity notes that activate the senses on the nose, palate and finish. Much like the other bottles in the series, it’s a top quality release and one that is highly limited in numbers.

This is 2x 1oz pour of two different whiskies. Woodford produced two bottles of malt whiskey, of which one was the Classic Malt, the other (called Straight Malt) used the same mash bill but was matured for longer in new charred oak casks. The idea was to see the difference between the grain first (Classic Malt) approach (favored by the Scots, the Japanese, and the Irish etc) and the barrel forward style (Straight Malt) we know and love from regular bourbons.
