Restaurant info
Our story began in May 1944 when Harold and Dorothy Hoersch opened a small 14-stool lunch counter, the Juniper Café, with a simple yet ambitious goal—offering quality food and exceptional service at reasonable prices. Through hard work and dedication, their vision became a reality. As the business grew, the café relocated in 1946 to its current home on Juniper and First Avenue, rebranding as the Melody Grill. Over the years, as tastes evolved, it became Dorothy’s Oven and eventually the beloved Hob Nob Hill. Today, we take pride in being one of San Diego’s longest-standing restaurants in the same location.
