This light Colombian roast highlights the artistry of Lucas Tulcan, a seasoned farmer cultivating coffee in the high Andes near Buesaco. At his farm, Finca La Peña, Lucas’s dedication shines through in this small-lot coffee, celebrated for its rich sweetness and nougat-like depth that echoes the warmth of a classic Charleston Chew. Each batch undergoes a meticulous process, from 48 hours of dry fermentation to sun-drying on concrete patios and raised beds. Beyond his craft, Lucas, a father of four daughters and a devoted gardener, finds solace in his coffee work—a connection to his late wife and a testament to his enduring love for her. This smooth and balanced light roast carries not only rich flavors but also the heart of a lifelong passion.

Baroida Estate, a storied coffee plantation in Papua New Guinea’s Eastern Highlands, was founded in the 1960s by Ben Colbran and is now managed by his son, Nicol. Named after the legendary Baroida spirit—a resilient river rock rooted in local lore—the estate is steeped in history and surrounded by lush highlands and smallholder coffee farms. Known for its unique flavor profile, Baroida’s coffee offers delightful notes of apricot jam, raisins, and almond butter, making it a favorite as both a brewed coffee and a single-origin espresso.

This coffee is produced by Rosalba Cifuentes and family, and is consistently is one of our favorites. Rosalba focuses on improving the lives of each coffee producer in her community. This lot offers up a sweet cup with a hit of dried fruit. We take this bean to a dark roast to accentuate it's more comforting attributes - bold but smooth, sweet but balanced with a mild acidity. This is a versatile coffee, but we particularly enjoy it as a classic pour-over.
